Travel Challenge: Baseball Hall of Fame

Its been over 25 years since I’ve been. For a dedicated little leaguer or a lifelong baseball fan, a trip to Cooperstown comes before Disney World, Las Vegas or any you-name-it destination on a “must see” list. No matter which sport I enjoy currently, when it comes down to it, I’m always reminded of memories […]

Crazy for Croatia: Five Musts

Not to knock Dubrovnik, with its marble streets, 16th-century city walls, sparkling red roof tiles, and primo location—it more than earns its moniker of “Pearl of the Adriatic,” not to mention its UNESCO World Heritage status. Is The Relative Value Of Delta SkyMiles Increasing?

A couple of days ago I wrote a post about the increased sign-up bonus on American Express' co-branded Delta SkyMiles Cards.

In the post I wrote that as a relative matter, Delta SkyMiles are becoming more valuable. I said that I think they're becoming almost as valuable, if not more valuable, than United MileagePlus miles.

A couple of people called me out on that, so I figured I'd explain in a bit more detail why I think Delta SkyMiles are getting relatively more valuable:

Service Is Free to Offer But Incredibly Valuable: Lessons from an Airport Shuttle Driver

At the Hyatt Dulles, my shuttle driver was named Abdullai. He was extremely enthusiastic about welcoming his early-morning travelers on board for the ride to the terminal. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he said, “Welcome to my shuttle. I’ll be taking you to the Dulles airport this morning. The journey will take exactly 13 minutes.” Then he…

Etihad A380s Flying To Sydney And London!

Several months ago, Etihad Airways revealed their revolutionary new A380, which really is unlike anything we’ve seen from the current A380 operators. Between The Residences, First Class Apartments, Business Class Studios, etc., the branding is genius, in my opinion.

Etihad will be inaugurating A380 service between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow as of December 27, 2014. The A380 will operate the EY11/12 flights, with the following schedule:

EY11 Abu Dhabi to London departing 2:35AM arriving 6:35AM

EY12 London to Abu Dhabi departing 9:15AM arriving 8:05PM

No Major Changes To Chase Ink Cards

The Ink Plus® Business Card and Ink Bold® Business Card are probably my two favorite business cards. Not only do they offer very generous sign-up bonuses, but they're also rewarding for everyday spend.

The Ink cards offer 5x points on office supply stores, and on cellular phone, landline, internet, and cable TV services. Add to that the reasonable $95 annual fee (which is waived the first year) and no foreign transaction fees, and the Ink Plus and Ink Bold become really solid business credit cards.

Chase has been tweaking the benefits of some of their cards recently, so it wasn't surprising to see an email this morning announcing changes to the Ink Business cards.

Review: Park Hyatt New York

Arguably the most anticipated hotel opening of 2014 is the brand new Park Hyatt New York, which occupies the lower 25 floors of the new One57 building. Even though it just opened, this is actually the flagship Park Hyatt property globally, taking over that title from the Park Hyatt Chicago.

The hotel just had its grand opening this past Tuesday, and I had the opportunity to stay that night after flying in from Frankfurt on Singapore Airlines. It's worth noting that the hotel already had guests for about a week prior, though Tuesday, August 19, 2014, was technically their "grand opening" night.

Marilyn Hartman Arrested At Airport… Again!

I've written in the past about Marilyn Hartman, the Bay Area woman who keeps trying to sneak onto planes. A couple of weeks ago she was actually successful, and managed to not only sneak through security, but onto a Southwest Airlines flight from San Jose to Los Angeles.

After that she was sentenced to probation, but after violating that she was sentenced to 177 days in jail. She was then released from jail less than a week later due to overcrowding.

Not surprisingly she's back at it again, this time in Phoenix. Via SFGate:
