Etihad Airways Offering Status Match to Their Gold Elite Level
Etihad Airways is offering to status match elites from other airlines to their Gold level. Status matches are of course common though increasingly airlines will only give you status for a limited period of time, if at all, until you first fly a certain amount with them. Etihad on the other hand offers straight-up status […]

SkyMiles Technology Update Coming: What Will it Mean for the Program?
Delta has announced that SkyMiles systems will be unavailable early Saturday morning. What will this mean for the SkyMiles program? Possibly nothing. Technology maintenance is common. I feel like it happens to the Chase website and to the Hyatt website constantly. And yet when Delta removes award charts from its website, makes changes to technology […]

Airline Fuel Surcharges May Be Illegal. Here’s Why It Won’t Matter.
I regularly hate on fuel surcharges. They’re bogus fees that have nothing to do with the cost of fuel. A full transatlantic flight – or even one 3/4ths full – will generally cover more than the full cost of gas at current prices with the surcharges alone. And surcharges are ostensibly just meant to cover […]

Air Crash Investigation Covers MH370
I'm a big fan of National Geographic's "Air Crash Investigation" (okay, perhaps "big fan" isn't the right term to use to describe how I feel about a show that discusses air disasters, but it usually is fairly well done). There's no denying that over the years the show has become significantly lower budget, as there seems to be an ever-decreasing amount of customization to each incident in terms of cabin mockups, pilots, etc.
Anyway, Air Crash Investigation just aired their episode about MH370 this past weekend, and it's a good watch, if you have 45 minutes.
Yes, obviously the cabin mockups/dialogues are total speculation, but there are some interesting experts on the case that chime in. Though the fact that they can't even get the airline's name right is sort of concerning (it's Malaysia 370, not Malaysian 370).

10 Best Credit Card Offers For February
Every month I make a post with what I consider to be the best credit card sign-up bonuses of the month.
While there are several excellent long standing credit card offers, the specifics of the best offers are constantly changing (be it the annual fee, minimum spend requirement, or even amount of the sign-up bonus).
If you read my blog on a daily basis then by all means skip this post, but for me it’s a useful, “current” place to refer people that ask about which cards they should sign-up for, a question I get on a daily basis. For reference, here is my list of the best credit card sign up bonuses for January.
With that in mind, below are what I consider to be the best credit card sign-up bonuses for this month. In advance I should warn that this hasn't been an especially exciting month on the credit card front. With that in mind:

Are We All Sick Of Hearing About Emirates Yet?
Because I'm about to board an A380 flight from Dallas to Dubai.
I know, I know.
Between the luckiest irrops ever, the drunkest flight ever, the flight immediately following that one, flights with Papa Lucky, more flights with Papa Lucky, and flights with Mama Lucky, the Emirates first class experience is, shall we say, thoroughly covered here on One Mile At A Time.
Thoroughly.
And I don't even particularly like Dubai. It's basically a country-sized Ritz-Carlton. Which I don't find particularly nice either, really.
So why am I going?

Emirates Lounge Los Angeles LAX Now Open
Earlier in the month Emirates opened their 37th worldwide lounge, at Tom Bradley International Terminal LAX.
The lounge is for their once daily A380 flight to Dubai, which departs in the early afternoon.
Emirates has a really interesting lounge strategy, in that they're one of the few airlines that seems to open lounges even at many of their once daily destinations so that they can best control the quality of their passenger experience.
While the Emirates First Class Lounge in the A380 Concourse at Dubai Airport is impressive, I've generally been less impressed by their outstation lounges, at least as a first class passenger.
