Qantas US Flight Changes
Qantas has been undergoing some major restructuring lately due to huge losses. The most profitable aspect of their operations seem to be their flights to the US, given those routes still don't see too much competition from other carriers.
As part of their efforts to improve profitability, Qantas actually added A380 service to Dallas, by cutting A380 service to Hong Kong and retiming their flight between Melbourne and London to create less ground time at Heathrow.
It seems that the international restructuring is continuing, both in terms of tightening up the schedule and in terms of adding more routes and frequencies. The changes include the following:

LEAK: New Bose Noise Cancelling Headsets – QC25 – May Be Out Next Month
Bonusfeber breaks the news and fortunately Google translates. A video briefly leaked on Vimeo which has since been pulled down. Bose is trying to keep the details quiet and refuses comment. Since Bose is the leader in frequent flyer noise cancelling headphones, their latest product is news. And it’s time for a refresh. They’ve got […]

Hospitality Happens At The Margins
I think it's fair to say that airlines and hotels make money at the margins.
In other words, you have various groups of guests you can "count on," and then it's filling those extra seats and rooms at the highest possible yields that has the greatest impact on your bottom line. That's why dynamic pricing and inventory/revenue management are so important.
One of my favorite things about constantly being on the road is experiencing well executed hospitality. The hotel industry is often referred to as the "hospitality industry," and in theory for good reason. But when you're flying or staying at a hotel, how often do you really feel like a guest as opposed to a transaction?
A Starwood SVP appeared on Bloomberg the other day to explain that 2% of their guests generate 30% of their profits.

BIG! 90,000 Mile Bonus Offer for New Virgin Atlantic MasterCard!
PointCentric uncovered a 90,000 mile signup bonus for the Virgin Atlantic co-brand credit card. They used to offer the card as an American Express (one of those oddball American Express cards not issued by American Express). Now it’s a MasterCard. It’s advertised as a signup bonus of up to 90,000 miles but I wouldn’t think […]

AZAL Azerbaijan All Business Class 727 Between Baku And Geneva
There are several airlines operating all business class configurations, from British Airways' Club World London City service between New York and London, to La Compagnie's new service between New York and Paris.
But here's one I had never heard of until today, thanks to this amazing airliners.net trip report of the inaugural. And unfortunately it looks like it's too late, since it has been discontinued already.
AZAL Azerbaijan operated an all business class 727 service twice per week between Baku and Geneva. Apparently it was the last ex-Northwest 727 still flying.
