Jet Airways And Qatar Airways Business Class Are Next!

One suggestion I frequently get is to review more business class products, since they're more attainable than first class for the average miles & points collector. And I've been making a real effort to do that.

-- I did a US Airways 90,000 mile business class award over the summer which included travel on LOT, Swiss, Ethiopian, and Lufthansa.

-- I flew La Compagnie "business class."

-- I flew TAP business class to Portugal.

-- I flew Icelandair business class.

-- I flew Singapore Airlines business class.

And I'm continuing the trend.

As some of you may recall, back in June I had plans to fly to Doha for the inaugural Qatar Airways A380 flight to London Heathrow. Of course that was before His Excellency perpetually delayed the inaugural, to the point that they'll be lucky if they take delivery of their first A380 this year.

My original plan was to fly to Doha via Brussels using American miles, trying out both Jet Airways' business class and Qatar Airways' business class. I was probably as excited about those flights as I was about the prospect of flying Qatar Airways' A380 in first class, since they both seem like really solid business class products. As a result I was pretty sad when I canceled that trip.

Half Off Award Redemptions to Europe!

Air France KLM’s Flying Blue program should be interesting to U.S. frequent flyers for several reasons. They offer one-way awards, which Delta won’t have until next year. They are an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner (points transfer instantly). They have access to award space that Delta won’t let you have. They have most of […]

Oldest Flight Attendant Forced To Retire

In May I wrote about Bob Reardon, the oldest active flight attendant in the world. He had just turned 90, and had been at Delta and Northwest for 63 years.

Well, the following update was just posted on Facebook:

Best International First Class Products

Earlier in the week, Flightfox revealed their rankings for the best first class products in the world.

They asked a few bloggers to rank their favorite first class products. And I'm not going to lie, that's something I struggle with. I'll gladly give you my top five or top ten first class products, but rank them one-by-one?

Why is that so challenging? Because I think the top handful of airlines perform at such a high level, that the best experience really comes down to the exact circumstances that day, like which route you're flying, how exceptional your crew is, whether you're originating at their hub or an outstation, etc.

Value Of The Chase Ink Cash Card

Yesterday I made a post about the pending (minor) changes to the Ink Plus® Business Card and Ink Bold® Business Card. Reader Geoff left the following comment on the post:

-- Lucky, if one were NOT to max out office supply spend ($25K) it seems to be wise to downgrade (or cancel) the Biz card to fee-free Chase card (Chase Ink?). Then simply keep the $95 CSP (for transfers) and be done with it.

Might even be able to get sign up bonus again in a year or two on fee paid cards (Ink Bold and Plus).

Am I missing something? --

Incredibly Cheap Malaysia Airlines Fares!

Malaysia Airlines has some crazy low fares at the moment. At first I assumed they were mistake fares, but given their current situation I actually don't think they are.

There have been many articles the past few days about how Malaysia Airlines flights are going out almost completely empty, and that Malaysia Airlines is losing roughly 1.6 million dollars per day. So that makes me believe that these fares are just a way to get people back on their planes.

US Airways Award Routing Rules?

US Airways Dividend Miles has long been known not just for their attractive award redemption rates, but even more so for their generous routing rules. At most airlines, the computers auto-price award tickets. This means that when an agent enters the flights into a record, the computer will validate the routing and come up with the price.

That has never been the case at US Airways, where it has very much been a manual process. In many cases this has worked in our advantage, as US Airways' agents understanding of geography occasionally leaves a bit to be desired.

That Time I Dumped All of My Ultimate Rewards Points…

I did something last week that I hadn’t really planned on doing. I dumped around 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points into my Southwest Rapid Rewards account. <Gasp!> It was a hasty decision, but was one that I ultimately have to live with. First of all, we all know just how valuable Ultimate Rewards points are. They […]
