$1,600 Business Class Fares From West Coast To Europe!

Per this FyerTalk thread, there seems to be a pretty good fare war going on between oneworld and SkyTeam for travel between the west coast and Europe.

SkyTeam seems to be publishing good business class fares to oneworld hubs, while oneworld seems to be publishing good fares to SkyTeam hubs.

For example, oneworld airlines have ~$2,000 business class fares between Los Angeles and Rome, which is a great fare to begin with. This seems to be valid for travel on American, British Airways, Iberia, and US Airways.

Travis Joins One Mile at a Time

After a ton of useful feedback from you guys, I'm testing out the idea of adding contributors to the blog. This isn't intended as a means of replacing me (hopefully), but rather as a way to add new and interesting perspectives, which I think you guys will enjoy.

I'm not hiring professional writers-for-pay, but rather truly passionate people in the hobby that might not have a background in blogging, but do have a background in obsessing over miles & points 24/7. ;)

My first new contributor is my good friend Travis, who will be writing a post every Wednesday to start. I've known Travis for years, and I love how unique his approach towards travel is, given that he has a family. So thanks to Travis for joining the team, and please welcome him! :)

The Guy Who Sparked the Knee Defender Controversy Plans to Keep Using It!

The passenger who touched off a media firestorm over use of the ‘knee defender’ and who caused a United flight from Newark to Denver speaks out. Scott Mayerowitz of the Associated Press scored an interview with James Beach, the man who touched off the firestorm. And all I can say is… wow. On the one […]

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Los Angeles LAX Coming Soon!

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses are among my favorite business class lounges in the world, and even on par with many of the better first class lounges on there.

They're actively fun places to hang out. As much as I love the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt and Thai Airways First Class Lounge & Spa in Bangkok, I don't actually get any marginal enjoyment out of staying there four hours rather than two hours, for example. That's not true of Virgin Clubhouses. They're actually fun to be in, between the music, food, spa, other random amenities, and the friendliness and good sense of humor of the employees.

More Virgin Atlantic Flights To The United States

I'm not a huge fan of the Virgin "brand" as such, but I do love Virgin Atlantic. While their hard product is only okay, I love just about every aspect of their experience.

Their Clubhouse Lounges are probably my favorite business class lounges in the world (though Qatar Airways' new Al Mourjan Lounge in Doha serves Krug and is definitely in the running for title of the world's best business class lounge), and among the only lounges I've visited that are actively fun to be in.

In late 2012, Delta and Virgin Atlantic announced their transatlantic joint venture, which was great news for SkyMiles members, whether you were looking to earn or redeem miles. One of the most exciting new options was to be able to redeem SkyMiles for transatlantic travel in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class without fuel surcharges.

Earn the Most Points for Your Spending — Use the Card That Best Leverages What You Buy Most

‘Which credit card is best’ — the best credit card spending bonus options — is going to vary somewhat by individual circumstances — what rewards do you want and just as importantly, what do you spend money on?
