Last Call for 50,000 Delta Amex Offers

As a reminder, American Express is offering some increased sign-up bonuses on their co-branded Delta SkyMiles credit cards.

Per the application pages, these offers are all valid through tomorrow, September 8, 2014, so if you're interested in one of these cards I would jump on the increased bonus.

Why would I want more SkyPesos?

You might not, and if you're already earning hundreds of thousands of SkyMiles per year through the Suntrust Debit Card or other methods then I don't blame you.

As a relative matter though, I’ve found that Delta SkyMiles have become more valuable over the past couple of years. I'm finding them particularly valuable for travel to Europe and Australia, and once you understand how Delta prices award tickets you can get much more value from the program.

Targeted US Airways Triple Elite Miles Promotion

I don't usually post about targeted promotions, since either you were targeted or not. But my friend Ben forwarded me an extremely lucrative promotion he received from US Airways, which I have to at least mention.

Dividend Miles emailed select members and offered them triple Preferred Qualifying Miles over the next three months, through December 13, 2014. No registration is necessary, and the promotion is valid for travel on US Airways, US Airways Express, American, and American Eagle.

Etihad’s Abu Dhabi Pre-Clearance Is Still A Disaster

Yesterday I wrote about my flight in Etihad first class on Wednesday, whereby they ran out of food several hours before landing... for my second longhaul flight in a row!

I’ve also written in the past about the new Abu Dhabi US pre-clearance facility. Basically on select US bound flights you clear customs & immigration in Abu Dhabi, and then land in the US as a domestic flight.

The UAE is picking up most of the cost of the facility, thinking it’s a big selling point for flying Etihad out of Abu Dhabi.

The problem is that the pre-clearance facility in Abu Dhabi is a complete mess.

I'll go so far as to say it’s quite possibly the most dysfunctional facility I’ve ever seen at an airport. Virtually no flights have left on-time since this was introduced, and passengers hate the facility.
