Perks Of Citi Prestige Card
Contrary to Ben's advice in July, I recently applied for a Citi Prestige card.
And I did it for mostly the wrong reason. You see, we have a big trip coming up where we'll be flying multiple hops on an airline without sufficient credentials to gain lounge access. The horrors.
So I was keeping my eye out for an inexpensive (or ideally free!) way to obtain a Priority Pass membership. Then Frequent Miler pondered that it might be possible to earn $700 in travel credits from the Prestige card in exchange for a $450 annual fee. The revamped Prestige benefits would also include Priority Pass.

Rwanda Screening US Passengers for Ebola, 2.25% Rebate on Amex Gift Cards, and a 2000 Point Signup Bonus for New Members
News and notes from around the interweb: TopCashBack is offering a 2.25% rebate on the purchase of American Express gift cards today only. So I was wrong when I said I didn’t expect to see anything over 2%. (HT: Frequent Miler) Rwanda now requires US passengers to be screened for Ebola (HT: Alan H.) The […]

Why Do Hotels Have Phones In Bathrooms?
The more I stay in hotels, the more questions I have. For example, why do W Hotels think I want a bathtub in the middle of my room? Or why do W Hotels always have a shortage of trash cans in the rooms?
Okay, maybe those questions are specific to W Hotels, though more generically...
Have you ever wondered why do so many hotels have phones in the bathrooms, usually by the toilet?
Up until this point I assumed there were a few potential reasons:

Review: Star Alliance First Class Lounge Los Angeles Airport LAX
I arrived at LAX at 8:20AM for my 12:20PM departure, which is much earlier than I’d usually arrive.
There are a couple of reasons I arrived so early:
-- I hadn’t yet selected a seat for my flight, since I only booked a couple of days before departure. I wanted to be sure I could get a decent seat by checking in early, given that Asiana actually holds back quite a few of the best seats for airport assignment.
-- I was excited to check out the Star Alliance Lounge LAX, which I’ve heard great things about though hadn’t yet visited.
Upon entering Tom Bradley International Terminal I proceeded left to the “C” check-in row, where Asiana check-in was located.
