Air Canada 2015 Elite Program Changes

Air Canada has announced some major changes to their 2015 elite program.

To clarify, the Altitude program is separate from the Aeroplan program, which is Aeroplan's spun off frequent flyer program.

While there are some good and bad elements to the changes, overall they're brutal. You know it's bad news when they introduce the changes as follows:

"Several changes have been made to Air Canada Altitude™ for 2015. These changes are being introduced following a thorough benchmarking exercise in order to competitively position Air Canada alongside the world's leading carriers. Air Canada remains committed to offering one of the world's best frequent flyer programs."

Chicago Seminar Recap: Computer Security Tips and Tricks

My background is in technology. I used to be more of a hardcore geek: building PCs, running computer network cable, planning server deployments and IT consulting. Then I stumbled upon this world of travel and credit cards. It’s way more fun. At the same time, technology can make things a lot easier if you know […]

Alitalia’s business class award availability between the US and Italy is really good. And their business class product is much improved, too. But if you believe Delta.com, the award calendar is going to make you think there’s nothing available. Here’s a search at Delta.com for two business class seats, New York – Rome, in June. […]

WOW Air: Roundtrip Fares to Iceland and Europe under $300

Two days ago I was trying to convince my wife that we should do a long weekend trip to Iceland. As is usually the case when I initially pitch her my travel plan ideas, she looked at me like I was crazy. I have wanted to travel to Iceland for years, but she is simply […]

US Airways MasterCard Anniversary Bonus Staying

One of the big questions surrounding the American and US Airways merger has involved their credit card partnerships. American's co-branded credit card is issued by Citi, while US Airways' co-branded credit card is issued by Barclaycard. I think it goes without saying that Citi will be the "primary" card issuer going forward, however you'd like to define that.

That's why I've long recommended picking up the US Airways Premier World MasterCard®, which offers a 40,000 mile sign-up bonus after the first purchase, with an $89 annual fee. That's a great sign-up bonus, especially for a card that may not necessarily be taking new applicants for much longer.

Anyway, I just received the following email regarding the credit card, which I found kind of interesting:
