Delta Eliminates Stopovers On Award Tickets Without Notice!
Earlier I wrote a post entitled "Has Delta Silently Changed Award Ticket Rules?"
In it I explained Delta's rules for longhaul award tickets -- historically they've permitted one stopover and one open jaw on a roundtrip award ticket.
However, I noted how as of recently, itineraries with both an open jaw and a stopover were no longer pricing as before, but instead were pricing as the cumulative total of two award tickets -- in this case they were pricing at 175,000 miles rather than 125,000 miles.
My conclusion was that Delta was only allowing a stopover or an open jaw on award tickets.

Has Delta Silently Changed Award Ticket Rules?
Delta SkyMiles has long had one of the more generous policies when it comes to stopovers and open jaws on longhaul award tickets.
Historically Delta SkyMiles has allowed one stopover and one open jaw on a roundtrip longhaul award ticket.
Per the SkyMiles Membership Guide, here's what they say about stopovers and open jaws on award travel:
"Open jaw travel is permitted for Award Travel. To be eligible, the mileage between the open jaw points must be less than or equal to the total mileage flown between any other trip in the itinerary (origin to destination). A double open jaw is not permitted."

British Airways AARP Discount Extended To 2015
I've written in the past about the awesome discounts you can get for travel on British Airways by being an AARP member.
This discount offers $400 off of roundtrip business class tickets, even when they're discounted already (there are also discounts of $65 for economy tickets and of $130 for premium economy tickets). So when there's a fare sale between the US and Europe, this knocks a further $400 off the price of a ticket, often bringing the cost of a flight down to what you'd expect to pay for economy class.
The offer was only supposed to be valid for bookings made through October 14, 2014, and we weren't sure whether they were going to extend it beyond that or not.
Last week I posted about how AARP extended the offer through October 31, 2014, which I found a bit odd. Extending a promotion by only two weeks didn't make me feel very confident that it would be extended beyond that.

Throwaway Ticketing and Fuel Surcharges… a Trick to Reduce the Big Fees on Your Next Award Ticket
Tocqueville asked me yesterday about fuel dumping award tickets and I thought it only fair to share my answer with y’all. Airlines that add fuel surcharges onto award tickets generally will charge the same amount that would apply on an identical paid reservation. He was specifically asking about reducing fuel surcharges using points with Air […]

Review: Etihad Airways First Class A340 Seoul Incheon to Abu Dhabi
I can't even begin to describe how excited I was by the time we actually boarded.
And it seemed the crew was equally excited, as the chef, flight attendant, and first officer were all at the door to greet first class passengers.
I quickly snapped a few cabin pictures. I had flown Etihad's A340-500 before, though this was my first time on the A340-600. In terms of the first class cabin they're virtually the same.
Etihad's A340 first class cabin consists of a total of 12 seats spread across four rows, in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each suite is fully enclosed. Unlike Emirates' cabins, Etihad's are actually somewhat modestly designed and not super-blingy (well, perhaps with the exception of the "diamond" on the bulkheads in front of and behind the cabin).
