How to Get Medical Coverage from Your Credit Card

Runny nose, sneezing, scratchy throat, headache, fever, aches and general exhaustion all hit me on day 3 of our week-long trip to Germany. I was out of commission for 2 full days and didn’t have the proper medication with me. In her most loving voice, my wife Sara reminded me it was a man cold. […]

50% Off Business Class Awards to Europe If You Book in January

Air France KLM’s Flying Blue program should be interesting to U.S. frequent flyers for several reasons. They offer one-way awards, which Delta won’t have until next year. They are an American Express Membership Rewards and a Citi Thank You points transfer partner. They have access to award space that Delta won’t let you have. They […]

Cancelling My $90 Hotel Stay Will Cost Me $600?!

A few days ago I sorta kinda stayed at the Aloft Abu Dhabi. Due to a series of unfortunate events, I ended up just spending a few hours there (and lemme say I didn't seem to be the only person using a room on an hourly basis).

While I generally love Aloft properties, I was not a fan of the Abu Dhabi property.

Anyway, here's something I've never been able to figure out. I redeemed 3,000 Starpoints for my one night stay, which is a hell of a deal. The paid rate was reasonable at ~90USD, but since I earn stay credits even for award stays, I figured I was best off saving the cash.

Alaska and Delta, once close airline partners, have been in fierce competition for flyers throughout 2014. Much of the fight has been over high-value Seattle-based flyers. Alaska offered flyers first double elite miles out of Seattle, and then double EQMs to many destinations after Delta offered double Medallion and base miles. It looks like Alaska […]
