Etihad Will Review Tarmac Delay Policy After Insane Delays

On the PR front, Etihad's year certainly hasn't been off to a good start after they dealt with some torrential fog in Abu Dhabi, which more or less crippled their operations.

The two stories that went most viral include:

-- An Abu Dhabi to San Francisco flight, whereby passengers were aboard for 28 hours due to a 12 hour fog delay -- Etihad put out a press release apologizing for and explaining the situation

-- An Abu Dhabi to Dusseldorf flight which ended up being over 13 hours, on which one passenger died

Driving in Ginza

Low F-Stops in Cities If you want to get this kind of out-of-focus effect like you see in the photo below, be sure to shoot at a low F-Stop and get a nice close subject. As in the photo below, I took a photo of that car at F/1.4 and everything behind it kind of […]

How refundable are airline fees? Not so much

from Elliott http://elliott.org/the-navigator/refundable-airline-fees-not-much/

Why Airline Frequent Flyer Programs Have Gotten Less Generous (It’s Not the Reason You Think!)

One of the most widely held views of my readers is that frequent flyer programs have become less generous because of airline mergers — there’s less competition. It’s an interesting view, although I’m not sure that it’s a correct one. We very much still have competition from: Delta/American/United/Southwest (4 huge domestic players) Alaska/Virgin America/JetBlue/Frontier/Spirit/etc (real […]

Accor Hotels Secret Loyalty Manual Uploaded Publicly to Google Play. Here’s What it Says..

When loyalty program manuals that are given to hotels leak, they make for interesting readings — about the economics of the program, what hotels are expected to deliver, and how programs ensure (such as through fines) that hotels comply. I’ve written about several of these in the past: Secrets that Holiday Inn Express Tells Hotel […]

United Innovates… Who They’re Copying!

Overall we've seen quite a bit of innovation in the airline industry the past few years, both good and bad. However, quite possibly the least innovative airline has been United, as they've literally just copied whatever Delta has done.

Delta introduces a revenue requirement for status? United introduces a revenue requirement for status.

Delta starts awarding redeemable miles based on money spent as opposed to miles flown? United starts awarding redeemable miles based on money spent as opposed to miles flown.
