Review: Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport

My family is from Frankfurt, so I'm quite familiar with the area, and seem to have quite a few overnights there. Back in the day I'd just spend those overnights with family, though they all live a bit further from the airport now than in the past. So now I just stay at hotels.

My go to hotel for quick overnights is usually the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport. The location of the hotel can't be beat (it's literally a minute walk from the terminal), the club rooms are renovated, and the club lounge has one of the best spreads of any Sheraton I've stayed at.

That being said, I'm always looking to try out new hotels. In the past I gave the Hilton Frankfurt Airport a try, back when it was brand new. While it was a nice enough hotel, it wasn't as conveniently located as the Sheraton, and the club lounge didn't have as good of a spread either.

How to Book Cheap Cathay and Emirates Business Class Awards

I don’t often recommend buying airline miles because frequent flyer programs often charge around 3-3.5 cents per mile, a value that can be hard to recoup on most awards. However, Alaska Airlines is currently offering a promotion now through April 3 where you can get up to a 40% bonus on purchased miles that might...

“If you have to ‘give back,’ maybe you took too much in the first place.”

I heard someone say that recently. I don’t remember the context but I really liked the sentiment. This whole concept of “giving back”—it kind of implies a certain arrogance. It suggests that everything we’ve received comes from our own hard work, and that we are deserving of whatever wealth or status we hold.

Here’s The 6 Simple Universal Rules for When To Tip, When Not to Tip — and How Much

I hate tipping, for several reasons. If it’s meant “to insure prompt service” then why do it after the meal? why do it at all in places you’re visiting and won’t return to? Why should it be an ambiguous open-ended amount? Why should credit card slips in countries where tipping isn’t traditional include a tip […]

How To Get Admirals Club Access For $200 Per Year

Early last year, Citi came out with what was hands down the best sign-up bonus of the year -- they were offering a 100,000 mile sign-up bonus on the Citi Executive AAdvantage Card.

Probably the reason for such a big bonus was that the American Express Platinum Card would no longer get you into Admirals Clubs, and Citi wanted to make a push for the Citi Executive AAdvantage Card and hopefully gain some market share. Their card did get you into the Admirals Club, so it was a compelling point of difference for many.

With the 100,000 mile sign-up bonus it was an absolute no brainer, and for the past year I think a vast majority of us have had an Admirals Club membership. Justifying the $450 annual fee isn't that tough with such a huge sign-up bonus.

But for many of us the card is now up for renewal. If you're like me, you're likely trying to figure out what to do.
