KLM’s Short Animated Film About Farting Airplanes

I'm a big fan of KLM's branding & marketing, in spite of their cringe worthy signature baby blue "motif."

A couple of days ago KLM unveiled a pretty cute animated short film targeted at kids, which features their mascot, Bluey. Here's how KLM describes the video:

"KLM presents with pride the first short animation movie for children about Bluey, the fun KLM mascotte. Watch and experience the adventures of Bluey.

In this first episode, Bluey has an adventure in the Netherlands, involving a Dutch flower parade."

Introducing “Bluey” the Animated Baby 747, and He’s Awesome!!

Via Baccarat_Guy, KLM has a brand mascot for children. It’s Bluey, “a ‘mini’ 747-400, and is friends with another airplane that FARTS! (when nervous, of course!)” Bluey is the theme for KLM’s kids meal. They’ve put together a short animated movie featuring Bluey. I’m terribly frightened, but I couldn’t help but watch.

This Is Low: Lady Pretends To Be Germanwings Crash Victim For Free Flights

The story is emerging of a lady who allegedly claimed to be the relative of a Germanwings crash victim in order to score free tickets to the South of France. Via The Local:

"The Halterner Zeitung, a local paper from the town which lost 16 school pupils in the March 24th Germanwings crash, reported that the woman claimed to be the cousin of one of the two teachers on the plane. The teachers and students were on their way back from an exchange programme in Barcelona.

The woman brought three people with her on two trips to the south of France at Lufthansa's expense, as well as visiting the crash site and memorial and accepting psychological counselling."

Lightning Strike Leaves Hole in Nose of Plane, Flight Continues 8 Hours Anyway!

An flight from Reykjavik to Denver was struck by lightning. It was only on arrival in Denver that anyone realized there was a gaping hole in the nose. Icelandair flight 671 was responding normally and there was apparently no indication of a need to divert. Lightning strikes aren’t uncommon, and planes are built to withstand them, though seeing the actual damage is striking. A little speed tape and should be good as new..

New Delta Award Discount Contains a New SkyMiles Sleight of Hand

Delta is running an award sale for spring travel on certain domestic and Caribbean routes where you can save 2500 miles each way on economy redemptions.

Slipped in there, though, is listing "12,500 miles" (25,000 miles roundtrip) as the new, special 'sale price' on some domestic award tickets -- which require 21 day advance purchase and have blackout dates.

Just when I thought Delta couldn't hide the ball even more on program changes, they appear to have moved forward...

Last Call: Book United Award Tickets With “Inherited Status” NOW

One of the more interesting benefits that United flyers gained after the Continental merger takeover was a very favorable policy of "inherited status" on award tickets. For the past three years, any award tickets issued inherited the status of the account holder.

That means that if a MileagePlus Premier member booked an award ticket for a friend and family member, that person would be treated with pretty much all of the benefits as if the Premier was flying himself. These benefits included free checked bags, economy plus seating, premier check-in, and upgrades if the Premier also had the MileagePlus credit card -- even the boarding pass would show the status of the account holder!

As Ben covered back in November, United has announced that the benefit of "inherited status" will terminate for tickets booked after April 15. The Ides of April are upon us....
