The Real Reason Creflo Dollar Wanted A Gulfstream G650

A couple of weeks ago I posted about Creflo Dollar, the mega-church preacher who wanted his congregation to fund a $65 million Gulfstream G650 for him. Because if each of his 200,000 members donated "just" $300-and-some-odd-dollars, he'd already be there -- it's that easy!

Here's the fundraising video he made explaining why he needs a new G650 (I'm not kidding, that's actually the fundraising video, and not a parody).

Now, while I'm no stranger to trying to crowd source air travel, I don't do it in the name of the "prosperity gospel." ;)

The Best 0% Balance Transfer Card Adds Free Credit Scores

If you don’t pay off your credit card balances each month, the mileage card game is not for you. You should care a whole lot more about your borrowing costs than miles. You’ll Never Guess Emirates’ Next US Destination

Earlier today I posted about how Emirates announced they would be adding a second daily flight between Dubai and Seattle, as of July 7, 2015. The flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-200LR.

Emirates' first flight to Seattle was added only a few years ago, and it will soon be Emirates' only US route with twice daily flights (though JFK gets 4x daily flights). Some have suggested that the route was basically being added to shuttle Boeing parts between Seattle and Dubai, which wouldn't surprise me.

Well, apparently that wasn't Emirates' only US route announcement today. Emirates also announced their newest US destination. Now, if you asked me a few hours ago what Emirates' next US destination would be, I would have guessed Miami, Newark, or Atlanta, with near certainty.

Well, Emirates' latest US destination will be Orlando, Florida. That's right, Orlando.

Has Delta Discontinued Their Partnership With Virgin Australia?

For a few years now, Delta and Virgin Australia have had a partnership, allowing members of both airlines' frequent flyer programs reciprocal mileage earning and redemption.

Australia is one of the toughest destinations in the world to get to on miles, and Virgin Australia releases more saver level business class award availability between the US and Australia than any other airline. So this is a huge partnership for SkyMiles members, and one which greatly increases the value of SkyMiles, in my opinion.

However, something screwy has been going on lately.

Despite Delta having recently advertised that they've added a bunch of new partners to the SkyMiles online search page (and Delta displaying Virgin Australia award space online since 2012, actually), Virgin Australia award space no longer shows on delta.com.

Five Things To Consider About Beijing Hotels

I know many of us are soon headed to Beijing thanks to American's awesome ~$450 business class mistake fare, which they're honoring.

If you're anything like me, that means you have a few sets of hotels to book. ;)

I've been to Beijing a few times before, so originally I was going to write a post about where to stay in Beijing.

And then I realized that Beijing has over 5,000 hotels on TripAdvisor.

To put that into perspective, New York has about 500 hotels, Tokyo about 800 hotels, and London about 1,000 hotels. So ain't nobody got time to read (or for that matter, write) a comprehensive post about Beijing hotel options.

Q2 2015 Hilton HHonors Hotel Category Changes

As of April 2014, Hilton HHonors has shifted how they make award category changes. Rather than having massive hotel category adjustments every so often, they’re doing quarterly adjustments. That’s to say that they’re not changing the number of points required for each category every quarter, but rather are shifting which hotels belong in which categories.

Ultimately I favor anything which isn’t an award chart massacre like what we saw with HHonors in early 2013, so I guess that's a good thing overall.

Rather than emailing members when there’s a big award chart change, they now have a website where Hilton lists the category changes. That sounds great in theory, except I’m not sure how a vast majority of members are expected to know when these changes happen.
