Last Call: Redeem US Airways Miles Today!

In case you missed the announcement earlier in the week, today is your last chance to redeem US Airways Dividend Miles before the program combines with American AAdvantage.

All Dividend Miles award redemptions must be made by 11:59PM CDT on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. After that, award redemptions will be shut off for a few days, while the Dividend Miles program is merged into AAdvantage.

So this is your final opportunity to redeem Dividend Miles.

Aer Lingus Business Class Awards Wide Open This Summer

As most of you probably know by now, British Airways Executive Club is devaluing their award chart for bookings made as of April 28, 2015. While the cost of their most economical redemptions stay the same (economy on shorthaul flights), premium cabin and longhaul redemptions are in many cases substantially going up in price.

Arguably the single best use of British Airways Avios for transatlantic flying is for Aer Lingus' flight between Boston and Dublin -- it costs just 25,000 Avios one-way in business class with minimal fuel surcharges.

I've written about this before, and have even flown Aer Lingus business class from Boston and Dublin and from Dublin and Boston.

I think it's worth posting about this redemption opportunity one more time for a few reasons:

Review: Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport

My family is from Frankfurt, so I'm quite familiar with the area, and seem to have quite a few overnights there. Back in the day I'd just spend those overnights with family, though they all live a bit further from the airport now than in the past. So now I just stay at hotels.

My go to hotel for quick overnights is usually the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport. The location of the hotel can't be beat (it's literally a minute walk from the terminal), the club rooms are renovated, and the club lounge has one of the best spreads of any Sheraton I've stayed at.

That being said, I'm always looking to try out new hotels. In the past I gave the Hilton Frankfurt Airport a try, back when it was brand new. While it was a nice enough hotel, it wasn't as conveniently located as the Sheraton, and the club lounge didn't have as good of a spread either.

I heard someone say that recently. I don’t remember the context but I really liked the sentiment. This whole concept of “giving back”—it kind of implies a certain arrogance. Here’s The 6 Simple Universal Rules for When To Tip, When Not to Tip — and How Much

How To Get Admirals Club Access For $200 Per Year

Early last year, Citi came out with what was hands down the best sign-up bonus of the year -- they were offering a 100,000 mile sign-up bonus on the Citi Executive AAdvantage Card.

Probably the reason for such a big bonus was that the American Express Platinum Card would no longer get you into Admirals Clubs, and Citi wanted to make a push for the Citi Executive AAdvantage Card and hopefully gain some market share. Their card did get you into the Admirals Club, so it was a compelling point of difference for many.

With the 100,000 mile sign-up bonus it was an absolute no brainer, and for the past year I think a vast majority of us have had an Admirals Club membership. Justifying the $450 annual fee isn't that tough with such a huge sign-up bonus.

But for many of us the card is now up for renewal. If you're like me, you're likely trying to figure out what to do.

Today’s Daily Getaways: Buy Club Carlson Gold Points Cheaply

Daily Getaways, which is a promotion sponsored by the US Travel Association, has returned as of this week. Over the next five weeks all kinds of travel packages will be on sale, starting weekdays at 1PM ET.

On some days there will be lots of competition for the travel packages, while other days they’ll be quite easy to snag. Personally I’m most excited about the travel packages offering hotel points, such as the IHG points from yesterday (that one didn't sell out quickly given that there were over 7,000 packages available).

Through today's promotion, Daily Getaways is offering packages of 50,000 or 100,000 Club Carlson Gold Points. It's worth noting that there are only a total of 150 packages for sale, so this is more like a lottery than anything else, given that there will presumably be lots of demand for these packages.
