I Heart My City: Avery’s Boulder

After a thoroughly East Coast childhood, Avery Stonich traded Boston for Boulder in 1988. Once she experienced the city locals lovingly refer to as the "People's Republic of Boulder," she never looked back. This outdoor enthusiast and freelance adventure and travel writer has more than 40 countries under her belt, but still thinks Boulder is among the greatest places on Earth. Here are a few of her favorite things about her hometown of choice.

No Major Changes To Chase Ink Cards

The Ink Plus® Business Card and Ink Bold® Business Card are probably my two favorite business cards. Not only do they offer very generous sign-up bonuses, but they're also rewarding for everyday spend.

The Ink cards offer 5x points on office supply stores, and on cellular phone, landline, internet, and cable TV services. Add to that the reasonable $95 annual fee (which is waived the first year) and no foreign transaction fees, and the Ink Plus and Ink Bold become really solid business credit cards.

Chase has been tweaking the benefits of some of their cards recently, so it wasn't surprising to see an email this morning announcing changes to the Ink Business cards.

Foraging: In Dublin, Shopping Away From the Crowds

Drury Street is just blocks from the city’s main shopping avenue, but the comparatively smaller strip has less congestion and a more authentic feel.

What Happens When There’s an Impossible Schedule Change on an Award Ticket?

Ronald A. asks, I’ve got an Aeroplan award ticket for two booked for next Spring on Turkish Airlines and Brussels Airlines (Istanbul-Brussels-Washnigton Dulles). The Brussels Airlines flight has had a huge schedule change which causes a misconnect in Brussels, so I’ll need to rebook. It looks like there is nothing with saver availability in business […]

Review: Park Hyatt New York

Arguably the most anticipated hotel opening of 2014 is the brand new Park Hyatt New York, which occupies the lower 25 floors of the new One57 building. Even though it just opened, this is actually the flagship Park Hyatt property globally, taking over that title from the Park Hyatt Chicago.

The hotel just had its grand opening this past Tuesday, and I had the opportunity to stay that night after flying in from Frankfurt on Singapore Airlines. It's worth noting that the hotel already had guests for about a week prior, though Tuesday, August 19, 2014, was technically their "grand opening" night.

A Free Offer to Help You Get Rich Slowly

Most people who read this blog aren’t poor. Some are relatively poor, in the sense that other people around them have more money—but that’s different from being really poor. Nevertheless, in offering a personal finance guide, neither J.D. nor anyone on the Unconventional Guides team wants to be insensitive to anyone who could benefit from…
