Best International First Class Products

Earlier in the week, Flightfox revealed their rankings for the best first class products in the world.

They asked a few bloggers to rank their favorite first class products. And I'm not going to lie, that's something I struggle with. I'll gladly give you my top five or top ten first class products, but rank them one-by-one?

Why is that so challenging? Because I think the top handful of airlines perform at such a high level, that the best experience really comes down to the exact circumstances that day, like which route you're flying, how exceptional your crew is, whether you're originating at their hub or an outstation, etc.

Value Of The Chase Ink Cash Card

Yesterday I made a post about the pending (minor) changes to the Ink Plus® Business Card and Ink Bold® Business Card. Reader Geoff left the following comment on the post:

-- Lucky, if one were NOT to max out office supply spend ($25K) it seems to be wise to downgrade (or cancel) the Biz card to fee-free Chase card (Chase Ink?). Then simply keep the $95 CSP (for transfers) and be done with it.

Might even be able to get sign up bonus again in a year or two on fee paid cards (Ink Bold and Plus).

Am I missing something? --

Incredibly Cheap Malaysia Airlines Fares!

Malaysia Airlines has some crazy low fares at the moment. At first I assumed they were mistake fares, but given their current situation I actually don't think they are.

There have been many articles the past few days about how Malaysia Airlines flights are going out almost completely empty, and that Malaysia Airlines is losing roughly 1.6 million dollars per day. So that makes me believe that these fares are just a way to get people back on their planes.

US Airways Award Routing Rules?

US Airways Dividend Miles has long been known not just for their attractive award redemption rates, but even more so for their generous routing rules. At most airlines, the computers auto-price award tickets. This means that when an agent enters the flights into a record, the computer will validate the routing and come up with the price.

That has never been the case at US Airways, where it has very much been a manual process. In many cases this has worked in our advantage, as US Airways' agents understanding of geography occasionally leaves a bit to be desired.

That Time I Dumped All of My Ultimate Rewards Points…

I did something last week that I hadn’t really planned on doing. I dumped around 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points into my Southwest Rapid Rewards account. <Gasp!> It was a hasty decision, but was one that I ultimately have to live with. First of all, we all know just how valuable Ultimate Rewards points are. They […]

Malaysia Airlines First Class Awards Available!

Malaysia Airlines is struggling financially, with very low load factors (read: empty planes). They aren’t losing nearly as much money as Qantas, of course. I genuinely feel bad for them. Lots of employees affected, generally not at all their fault, the carrier getting restructured. I much like the airline. They have my favorite satay. Although […]
