Ch-ch-changes at the Dallas American Express Centurion Lounge!

The American Express Centurion Lounge at Dallas-Fort-Worth Airport has had a couple of recent changes. It’s been six months since the last menu refresh there. And they’ve added new items to the menu. In fact, the lounge’s website menu isn’t up to date. I love the DFW Centurion lounge. It’s my all-around favorite, even featuring […]

Don’t Transfer Your Points!

Or at least not until you have a specific itinerary in mind, know confirmed space is available, and are ready to actually book your tickets!

In the past two days we've literally had over a dozen people contact our award booking service with some variation of "I just transferred all my Membership Rewards/Ultimate Rewards points to ____ and I think that was maybe a mistake?"

And while it's not a mistake, it certainly makes things more complicated.

How to ruin a business class flight

Freak out, hyperventilate, and breathe in a paper bag for an hour. That should attract everyone’s attention and embarrass you for the rest of the journey.

Qatar Airways To Take Delivery Of A380s!

In what has no doubt been one of the most exciting airline controversies of the year, Qatar Airways and Airbus have been going back and forth over the A380. Qatar Airways was supposed to take delivery of their first one several months ago, though apparently wasn't pleased with the quality of the interiors.

What followed was some fabulous Bravo-worthy drama, with Qatar Airways perpetually delaying their A380 service:

Your Award Ticket May Be Messed Up, Plink is Definitely Messed Up, and So Is Spirit Airlines

News and notes from around the interweb: Plink Rewards, which was a great double dipping tool, for instance earning an extra rebate at office supply stores, has shut down. I speculated something could be amiss six months ago but was wrong at the time. Sadly there is no more earning or redeeming, even of accumulated […]

Upgrade To AwardWallet Plus

It has been a few months since I last gave out upgrade coupons for AwardWallet Plus, and this seemed like as good a time as any.

As I’ve mentioned before, AwardWallet is one of those websites I don’t put much thought into but it makes my life so much easier.

Back in the day I’d have to refresh all my mileage balances manually, and if you’re as OCD as I am and have as many frequent flyer accounts as I do, that can take hours each week. ;-)

Why I moved off the grid

The short answer for why I moved to an off-the-grid cabin in Washington County, Maine, is that it was free. The long answer is something I’ve spent all spring and summer trying to define.

What Do You Do With Your Pets When You Travel?

I was riding in an airport trolley the other day when a lady with a small, cuddly dog came and sat beside me. It was a ridiculous looking thing- with wild curly hair and flat little face, and I thought it was pretty funny that this dog would likely be on an airplane in a […]
