La Compagnie’s Business Class Fares Still Great

One of the most interesting airline startups of the year has been La Compagnie, the all business class airline operating 757s exclusively between Newark and Paris. They had some operational issues when they started, and I was really excited to fly them between Paris and Newark. At 550EUR one-way, the ticket was dirt cheap for a transatlantic business class flight.

I walked away from the flight thinking both what an amazing value and sub-par business class product it was. After the flight I had the chance to speak with La Compagnie's Deputy CEO, who had some interesting insights into their operation.

I was mainly critical about the operation because:

Post-Trip Depression: It’s Often Emotionally Harder to Come Home than Go Away

Before my first trip around the world, I was driving through Boston with my friend Mike. One of the things I was talking about was how different life would be when I returned home. Where would my friends be in life? How would they change? What jobs would they have? New hobbies? New relationships? I imagined a world of possibility. “Everything will be exactly how you left it,” he said. “When I studied abroad, I thought the same thing. But, […]

IHG PointBreaks Fall 2014 Now Live

On Friday I mentioned that the IHG Rewards Club PointBreaks preview list was released, whereby select hotels are available for just 5,000 points per night. Today the official list of just over 175 properties has gone “live”.

While the main PointBreaks page hasn’t yet been updated, if you go to the individual participating hotel links (below), you should see the hotels already bookable at just 5,000 points per night.

The new IHG Rewards Club’s PointBreaks list is valid for stays through November 30, 2014.

Keep in mind as well that IHG Rewards Club recently updated the terms of the PointBreaks bookings, and you can only book two stays per hotel per promotion:

Vote On Hilton HHonors’ Next Promotion

Hilton HHonors is doing something which is creative, if nothing else. HHonors is letting you vote on their next global promotion, which will be valid for stays between November 1, 2014, and January 31, 2015. Registration will be required, and presumably as always there will be a sizable list of hotels that aren't participating.

They're leaving the rest up to us. Through October 4, 2014, HHonors members can vote on which promotion they'd most like to see -- the one that receives the most votes "wins."

The promotion choices are as follows:
