RHA MA750i In-ear Noise-isolating Headphones Promise to Quiet Your Next Trip
Join Vagabondish on Twitter and Facebook.
Every traveler knows that noise-cancelling headphones are the bee’s knees on long-haul flights. There’s nothing like drowning out the hum of your fellow passengers, jet engines, and the teething child in 12C as you drift off to Dreamland. Problem is they’re typically bulky and/or expensive. Enter RHA’s MA750 noise-isolating, premium, in-ear headphones. Like their larger, […]

Do Flight Attendants Deserve to Be Paid for Time Spent During Boarding of Your Flight?
Reader Mark O. suggests that I comment on the case Integrity Staffing Solutions v. Busk which the Supreme Court heard arguments in this week. It’s popularly known as the case of whether Amazon workers should be paid to stand in line, but the case isn’t about Amazon and the case has some pretty widespread implications […]

My Best Etihad First Class Flight Ever!
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Etihad. All things considered they're a good airline, though in terms of the first class experience there are a couple of things they could change to make the product truly fantastic.
Up until now my beef with Etihad has revolved around two issues:
-- Etihad's US pre-clearance facility in Abu Dhabi, whereby you clear customs prior to boarding your US-bound flight. This sounds like it would be good in theory, though in practice US-bound flights are delayed an average of two hours as a result of this. Even worse, Etihad's CEO claims that the facility "couldn't be going any better," which leaves me little hope for this ever changing.
-- Etihad has a fantastic "on demand" dining concept with an onboard chef in first class. The issue is that on my last two ultra longhaul Etihad flights they've run out of food several hours before landing. That means I literally had one "real" meal on a 13-16 hour flight.

Status Match From Hyatt To MGM
Last June a huge partnership went live between Hyatt Gold Passport and MGM M life. Shortly thereafter Starwood and Caesars announced a similar partnership, though it's not nearly as lucrative.
The Hyatt/MGM partnership was a brilliant idea, given Hyatt's lack of properties in Las Vegas. Through this partnership, MGM's properties in Las Vegas are a lot more accessible for Hyatt Gold Passport members. This is true whether you're looking to earn or redeem points. For MGM, the upside is primarily that they're getting a lot of new loyal guests that might otherwise choose a non-MGM property when staying in Las Vegas.
One of the cool aspects of the partnership is that they offer status reciprocity. As a Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond member you're matched to M life Platinum, while as a Gold Passport Platinum member you're matched to M life Gold. Matched status is valid for one year, though you can manually renew your status match after that by once again linking your accounts.

When Your Flight is Delayed or Cancelled, Here’s How to Get Your Credit Card Company to Buy Your Hotel Room and Meals
One of the key strategies you should employ when travel goes wrong is to solve the problem and worry about who pays later, when it’s an amount you can cover — put another way, “self insure.” If your flight gets cancelled, don’t spend an hour fighting with the airline over getting them to pay for […]
