$40 Towards Uber Car Service Plus 2x Points

As much as I love terrible taxi experiences, given that they're fun to share with you all, there is something to be said for having boringly efficient transportation.

Uber is one of those companies that definitely makes life better, particularly when dealing with airport transfers in foreign countries. I already think Uber is a good value for the convenience, but it's even better when there's a way to cut the cost down.

American Express is currently offering a $10 statement credit after your next Uber ride. This is valid for both new and existing Uber accounts through December 31, 2014, so everyone can take advantage of this.

Join Vagabondish on Twitter and Facebook.

Every traveler knows that noise-cancelling headphones are the bee’s knees on long-haul flights. There’s nothing like drowning out the hum of your fellow passengers, jet engines, and the teething child in 12C as you drift off to Dreamland. Problem is they’re typically bulky and/or expensive. Enter RHA’s MA750 noise-isolating, premium, in-ear headphones. Like their larger, […]

Do Flight Attendants Deserve to Be Paid for Time Spent During Boarding of Your Flight?

Reader Mark O. suggests that I comment on the case Integrity Staffing Solutions v. Busk which the Supreme Court heard arguments in this week. It’s popularly known as the case of whether Amazon workers should be paid to stand in line, but the case isn’t about Amazon and the case has some pretty widespread implications […]

My Best Etihad First Class Flight Ever!

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Etihad. All things considered they're a good airline, though in terms of the first class experience there are a couple of things they could change to make the product truly fantastic.

Up until now my beef with Etihad has revolved around two issues:

-- Etihad's US pre-clearance facility in Abu Dhabi, whereby you clear customs prior to boarding your US-bound flight. This sounds like it would be good in theory, though in practice US-bound flights are delayed an average of two hours as a result of this. Even worse, Etihad's CEO claims that the facility "couldn't be going any better," which leaves me little hope for this ever changing.

-- Etihad has a fantastic "on demand" dining concept with an onboard chef in first class. The issue is that on my last two ultra longhaul Etihad flights they've run out of food several hours before landing. That means I literally had one "real" meal on a 13-16 hour flight.
