IHG Into The Nights Promo Being Honored… Mostly

IHG Rewards Club has one of the most lucrative (and complicated) fall hotel promotions, entitled Into the Nights. It’s valid for stays between September 4 and December 31, 2014, and through the promotion you have to complete various "tasks" in order to earn the highest bonus.

Here's what my original bonus offer looked like:

However, as I wrote about yesterday, IHG seems to have changed the terms of the promotion for many members mid-promotion.

In my case, for example, the requirement went from having to download the IHG App and make one booking in order to "unlock" that bonus, to having to make five bookings through the app. That's a huge change, obviously.

Should the Details of Your Hotel Stay Remain Private? Should They Be Kept Easily Accessible to Police?

The Supreme Court has granted cert in the case of City of Los Angeles v. Patel, meaning they will consider the Los Angeles regulation requiring hotels make guest records available to police for inspection. The lawsuit is a ‘facial challenge’ to the regulation, meaning it argues the regulation is always unconstitutional as a violation of […]

Airberlin’s Changing Routes — What This Means For Award Travelers

According to Airlineroute.net, there’s good news and bad news to report about oneworld member airberlin. The bad news: effective May 4, 2015, airberlin is canceling its Berlin Tegel – Miami route, which currently operates four times a week. Dusseldorf – Miami operations appear to remain unchanged. The good news? Airberlin has also announced that they […]

Hotel Review: Radisson Martinique, New York – Club Level

For our recent strategy meeting in New York, the TPG team checked into a variety of hotels around the city. Lifestyle Editor Shayne Benowitz stayed at the Radisson Martinique on Broadway. Here’s her review. Stay tuned for more New York City hotel reviews. My cab turned onto the bustling, slightly chaotic corner of Broadway and […]

Armchair Inventory Management

I'd like to think that for the most part my blog isn't about drawing conclusions, but rather about starting conversations. For example, earlier I posted about airberlin discontinuing flights between Miami and Berlin. I wasn't saying it was a bad move, but rather just explained why I found it strange.

This post will be different, as I'm going to draw a conclusion -- American's revenue management got a route wrong. Really, really wrong. Even more so than they got award availability between London and New York wrong last weekend. ;)

As I posted about back in June, American will be adding one daily nonstop flight between Tampa and Los Angeles as of November 6, 2014. Currently Delta operates in the market with two daily nonstop flights. It's probably not the most lucrative market in the world, but presumably Delta does decently well between passengers traveling to Los Angeles, other parts of California, Asia, and Australia.

Louisiana, Three Ways: NOLA

Homegrown, unique, and thoroughly wonderful, Louisiana has a character all its own. "[It's] is another country," local historian Charles Chamberlain says. "But you better see it soon; who knows how long it’s going to last.” By the time Thomas Jefferson bought the land from Napoleon in that 1803 geopolitical fire sale, he explains, this French colony was well populated with French and Spanish immigrants, refugees from Haiti, and Congolese slaves, all of whom had seeded the land with their cultures, foods, and traditions. Here's a look at New Orleans.
