Review: Etihad Airways First Class A340 Seoul Incheon to Abu Dhabi

I can't even begin to describe how excited I was by the time we actually boarded.

And it seemed the crew was equally excited, as the chef, flight attendant, and first officer were all at the door to greet first class passengers.

I quickly snapped a few cabin pictures. I had flown Etihad's A340-500 before, though this was my first time on the A340-600. In terms of the first class cabin they're virtually the same.

Etihad's A340 first class cabin consists of a total of 12 seats spread across four rows, in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each suite is fully enclosed. Unlike Emirates' cabins, Etihad's are actually somewhat modestly designed and not super-blingy (well, perhaps with the exception of the "diamond" on the bulkheads in front of and behind the cabin).

Aeroplan Improving Routing Rules — No More MPM!

Last week was rough for Air Canada flyers. Towards the end of the week the Air Canada 2015 elite program was announced, and it's ugly.

Air Canada is unique in that they've spun off their frequent flyer program, and in this instance no real changes were made on the mileage redemption side of things through Aeroplan... at least not yet.

Anyway, an inside source has informed me that Aeroplan will be announcing some changes to their routing rules a bit later in the week, and apparently they'll be positive overall.

Review: Korean Air Business Class Lounge Seoul Incheon Airport ICN

After an all too short night I took the hotel shuttle back to the airport shortly after 10AM.

Etihad changed their check-in counters compared to the night before, so this time around check-in was at counters G30-36. Even though I arrived at them shortly before 10:30AM, there was already a long queue.

The premium counters were on the left, and there was both a first and business class line. People seemed to treat it as a single line, though. When I asked the people waiting whether they were in the first or business class line, they said "one line." Obviously not the case, though they were trying to work that in their favor.

Check-in opened at 10:30AM sharp, and I ended up being number two in the first class line. The person in front of me took 45 minutes to be processed, so it was 11:15AM before I was checked in. Much to my surprise my boarding pass was issued within 30 seconds, including on the later flight from Abu Dhabi to Cairo that I had proactively been rebooked on.
