The Trashiest Club Lounge Behavior. Ever.

I stayed at the Sheraton JFK Airport last night (I know, I've had two straight nights of airport Sheratons #GlamLife), and I think I witnessed the trashiest club lounge behavior I've ever seen.

Like, I've seen some pretty trashy club lounge behavior in my day. I've seen people show up in bathrobes. I've seen people show up barefoot. I've even seen someone in a club lounge wearing nothing but boxers. And I've also seen people literally put food from club lounges into Ziploc and doggy bags.

But I think this one takes the cake.

How Bad Is The Sheraton London Heathrow Hotel?

While I've had overnight connections in London more times than I can count, I've always either gone into the city or stayed at the Hilton London Heathrow Terminal 4. The Hilton is an ideal option if you're connecting to/from Terminal 4, since it's connected to the terminal by air bridge.

I find most of the other Heathrow hotels to just be a pain, given that they're not connected to the terminal and don't have complimentary shuttles.

Well, a couple of nights ago I was connecting from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3, so decided to expand my Heathrow airport hotel horizons, so to speak.

There are two Sheraton properties at Heathrow -- the Sheraton Heathrow and the Sheraton Skyline, and the rate difference is generally huge. For the night I was staying, the Sheraton Heathrow was 50GBP, while the Sheraton Skyline was 119GBP.

Did An Etihad Flight Delay Kill A Passenger?

Earlier I shared the story of yesterday's Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to San Francisco, which was delayed by 12 hours due to fog. The biggest issue is that the passengers weren't allowed to deplane, so were stuck on the plane the entire time. Basically holding people hostage for this long becomes a serious safety issue, especially when you have kids and seniors aboard.

Fortunately it doesn't seem anything serious happened during that 28 hour journey. The same can't be said for Etihad's flight yesterday between Abu Dhabi and Dusseldorf. After keeping passengers on the plane for more than 13 hours due to fog, an Etihad flight bound for Dusseldorf diverted to Vienna after a man had a stroke.

Review: Emirates First Class A380 Los Angeles To Dubai

My dad and I connected from Tampa same day, so we didn't use Emirates' chauffeur service, which is complimentary for first and business class passengers. Upon arrival we headed over to Tom Bradley International Terminal, where our Emirates flight was departing from. Emirates check-in is in Hall B, and opens at 11:30AM, so we were there right as it opened.

Emirates uses the Korean Air Lounge at LAX, which I've reviewed in the past. It's a really mediocre lounge -- definitely the least nice of the major three alliance lounges. The food spread is really lacking for an international first class lounge, and they don't even have champagne.

Fortunately Emirates plans to open their own lounge at LAX, and I'm told it should open later this month. While I'm not generally blown away by Emirates' outstation lounges, I'm sure it will be a big improvement over the current setup.

Etihad Passengers Stranded On Tarmac For 12 Hours

There has been some crippling fog in the UAE the past few days which has caused some serious operational disruptions for both Emirates and Etihad.

While major disruptions for an airline with just one hub are bad enough, it's especially bad right after New Years, when flights are presumably packed to the gills.

One story making the rounds is about yesterday's Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to San Francisco, which was delayed on the tarmac in Abu Dhabi for 12 hours. Combined with a 16 hour flight time, that made for a 28 hour journey.

London To Dallas Flight Diverts… Twice…

I flew with American out of London yesterday, and it looks like I chose the right flight.

American 51 from London to Dallas was scheduled to depart London at 11:15AM and arrive in Dallas at 3:45PM. Well, that didn't happen.

Apparently there was a medical emergency which caused the flight to divert to Iceland. Per aa.com:
