What Are Some Tips for Earning SPG Platinum Status?

TPG reader Savannah tweeted me to ask: @thepointsguy- “I really want to go for SPG Platinum this year, but don’t know if I’ll meet the requirements. Any advice?” Just like me, Savannah loves her SPG Platinum status. The easy tip if you’re nervous about re-qualifying is simply to stay, stay, stay. Book as much travel...

Korean Air SkyPass Transfers Have Returned To Ultimate Rewards!

As I wrote about on Thursday, Korean Air SkyPass transfers are finally returning to Chase Ultimate Rewards.

The option to transfer points from Ultimate Rewards to SkyPass suddenly disappeared last November, and then about a month later we learned that transfers would be returning sometime in January.

Anyway, the option to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Korean Air SkyPass at a 1:1 ratio has finally returned.

I Just Saved Over $173 – 58% – On an Upcoming Car Rental. Here’s How You Can, Too..

Wow! Antarctica!

An Amazing Trip I’m just now getting back to reality, but I wanted to share some quick pictures and thoughts! It all started with me being a bit nervous. Antarctica! Jeez… I felt like I was both unprepared and unworthy. But I kind of swallowed all that down and boarded a US military plane in […]

Coming Soon: Hilarious Bangkok Airport Documentary

There's nothing I love more than a good airport documentary. National Geographic has done a great "Ultimate Airport Dubai" series, which, as the name suggests, follows operations at Dubai Airport. I loved the whole first season, and the show is now back for a second season.

It looks like BBC Three is producing a six episode series about Bangkok Airport, which promises to be pretty hilarious. Here's a 30 second trailer:

Consolidation in Online Booking Sites: What Selling Orbitz and Travelocity Will Mean to You

Expedia, which was already operating Travelocity with its own search technology, is now acquiring its Sabre-owned smaller rival. Weekly Review: January 24, 2015

Hello from sunny Florida! I’ve spent the past five days at home with my parents (not living in hotels, for once), and it has actually been kind of relaxing.

I’ve been getting sleep. I’ve been going to the gym. My mom has cooked.

As much as I love to travel, it's really, really, nice to slow down for a while.
