How To Add A Stopover To A One Way Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Award

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is one of my favorite niche frequent flyer programs. Singapore Airlines has some of my favorite first class & business class products in the world, and for the most part the only way to book them is using Singapore KrisFlyer miles (that's because they block the space for members of their partner frequent flyer programs).

I've written extensively about the KrisFlyer program, both when it comes to redemptions on Singapore Airlines metal, as well as for redemptions on Star Alliance partner airlines:

A Film About Shame and Ego Wins Best Picture at the Oscars

Two days ago I went to see Birdman. I’d missed it when it came out, then forgot all about it, then realized it was still showing. Last night it won best picture and many other awards at the Oscars—coincidence, I’m sure. :)I really liked many aspects of the film, from the amazing drum-only soundtrack to the fact that it was filmed in a single continuous shot. (I don’t entirely know what that means, but it sounds cool.)I also thought it was interesting that much of the coverage of the film at the Oscars said it was primarily a story about ego. I thought it was somewhat about ego, especially in the context of mortality as an actor who formerly played a superhero ages and faces the loss of relevancy and career. But I also thought it was about shame, a concept that isn’t often explored from a masculine perspective. It reminded me of reading Karl Ove Knausgaard, something else I'll write about shortly.

Review: Gulf Air Business Class A330 London To Bahrain

I don't think I've ever boarded a plane as "blind" as when I got on this Gulf Air flight. SeatGuru shows three configurations for Gulf Air's A330s, none of which matched the seatmap for my flight. Gulf Air's website barely even makes reference to their new business class product, which I assumed my flight would have.

I boarded through door 2L, where I was welcomed by one of the crew, who pointed me towards my seat.

Gulf Air's business class cabin consists of a total of 36 seats, spread across two identical cabins. Each cabin features a total of three rows in a 2-2-2 configuration -- one is before the main entry door, and one is behind the main entry door, and they're separated by the galley and lavatories.

I was the first passenger in the forward business class cabin, so took the opportunity to snap some pictures.

Is It Time to Regulate Frequent Flyer Programs?

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything as egregious as Delta over the past few weeks. Delta eliminated their award charts — just pulled them off the website — without telling anyone. When asked they said that members now get all they need to know from the award calendar. That suggests pricing could change and […]
