American Express Shutting Down Target Redbird Accounts
Reader J. who asked not to be further identified forwarded this email that he received, shutting down his Redcard account. (It’s often referred to colloquially as ‘Redbird’ rather than its proper Redcard name because of its similarities to the American Express Bluebird cards co-branded with Walmart.) American Express apparently decided they didn’t like his loading […]

Understanding The New Barclaycard AAdvantage Aviator Cards
As we learned last October, US Airways Dividend Miles will be merged into American AAdvantage in the second quarter of this year (between April 1 and June 30, 2015).
American's co-branded credit cards are presently being issued by Citi (which include the Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage MasterCard and CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard), while US Airways' co-branded credit card (the US Airways Premier World MasterCard) is presently being issued by Barclaycard.
Once the two programs merge in the second quarter, Barclaycard won't be able to issue new AAdvantage credit cards anymore, though they will be able to continue to offer AAdvantage credit cards to existing cardmembers.

Have You Earned Starpoints From The New Starwood/Uber Partnership Yet?
Last week I wrote about the awesome new partnership between Starwood and Uber, whereby SPG members can earn Starpoints for Uber rides.
Starwood Preferred Guest members earn one Starpoint per dollar spent with Uber, on up to $10,000 of spend per year. On top of that, if you use an Uber the same day as a stay at a Starwood property, you earn Starpoints as if it's hotel spend, of up to four Starpoints per dollar spent (if you're a 75 night SPG Platinum member).
Anyway, I just noticed that the first Starpoints for the new Uber partnership have posted to my SPG account. I used Uber last Friday, and the Starpoints for those Uber rides posted to my account today.

The Strongest Case Being Made By US Airlines Against Their Gulf Rivals
An astroturf group, Americans for Fair Skies, has been set up to make the case against Gulf carriers. They’ve released a new YouTube video illustrating subsidies received by Emirates. I’m troubled by the continued use of ‘Sheikh’ in the video, at least 10 times in less than 4 minutes. It’s a xenophobic ploy The personalization […]
