Should You Buy Best Western Rewards Points Through Daily Getaways?

As I first posted about several weeks ago, Daily Getaways is back earlier than normal this year, and is a great opportunity to purchase hotel points at a discount. It’s sponsored by the US Travel Association, and every weekday for five weeks they’re offering discounted travel packages.

The promotion kicked off last week, with the opportunity to purchase points packages from three hotel chains:

-- Purchase IHG Rewards Club points for ~0.58-0.6 cents each (there are still packages for sale)

-- Purchase Club Carlson points for ~0.45 cents each (these packages sold out almost instantly)

-- Purchase Hilton HHonors points for ~0.5 cents each (these packages sold out after over a day)

We're now kicking off the second week of Daily Getaways promotions.

The US Airways MasterCard Isn’t (Quite) Dead Yet

With the integration of the AAdvantage and Dividend Miles programs this weekend, one thing that's disappearing is the US Airways MasterCard. The plan was:

-- Once the frequent flyer programs are integrated, no new applications will be accepted for the US Airways MasterCard

-- Existing US Airways MasterCard members will have their cards converted into the Barclaycard AAdvantage Aviator Cards; so while Barclaycard isn't allowed to accept new members for the card, they can continue to service existing members with the product
