Rebooking Award Tickets During Irregular Operations

I just had a 13+ hour flight delay, which prompted many of you to ask me how to get rebooked during irregular operations.

Whether due to a strike, maintenance, political unrest, or weather, delayed flights can screw up a perfectly good itinerary regardless of whether it's an award ticket or revenue booking. The complication with award tickets is that they are often booked by one airline for travel on partners. US Airways, I'm looking at you. ;)

If it's not the airline that issued your award ticket causing a flight delay, they are much less inclined to assist over the phone. Speaking from experience, operating airlines don't want to make any modifications to an itinerary over the phone if they didn't issue the ticket, as they don't "own" the ticket. This is especially frustrating if you're trying to be proactive and handle a flight delay over the phone before heading to the airport.

Earn A $75 Hotel Credit By Booking Flights

Cheaptickets is currently offering $50 in CheapCash for any flight booked on the their website. If you book on the mobile app, they give you an additional $25 bonus. The CheapCash you earn can then be used to pay for hotels.

Even if you book a flight that has a service fee, you are essentially paying $21.99 to get $75 in hotel credits or about a 70% discount. If you travel with a family, it is quite possible to get your entire hotel stay for free since you can easily generate $600 in hotel credits for a family of 4 on one trip.

How To Get A Pilot’s Attention… Not

Check out this epic video of two passengers trying to get the attention of the pilots after missing a flight.

I'm not sure whether my favorite part is the onlooker casually observing that she thinks they missed their flight, or that the guy yells "I have a card."

Though it still has nothing on the lady that missed her flight at Hong Kong International Airport:
