Act Now: Redeem American Miles For Business Class To Europe!

Over the past few weeks, American has announced four new routes between the US and Europe, which will launch in the spring of 2015. These include the following flights:

A second daily Boeing 777-300ER flight between Los Angeles and London as of March 28, 2015

-- A daily Boeing 757-200 flight between New York and Birmingham as of May 7, 2015

-- A daily Boeing 757-200 flight between New York and Edinburgh as of May 7, 2015

-- A daily Boeing 767-300 flight between Miami and Frankfurt as of May 14, 2015

Yesterday these flights finally became bookable, and as is the norm for American, premium cabin awards space was pretty tough to come by... at least initially.

All four routes didn't have a single saver business class award seat available, though did have plenty of saver economy award seats available.

Falling in Love with the Land of Elves

As we stared up at the sky, patches of neon and dark green changed to light pink and back to green. They came out of nowhere, hung like curtains on invisible hangers, and danced a duet to an unheard symphony They would appear, vanish, and reappear all over the sky. My companions, Lulu and Germaine, (two friends from France spending the week driving around Iceland) and I stared, bewildered, as the northern lights danced above us. It was the first […]

China Eastern 777-300ER To Los Angeles Starting February 2015

China Eastern doesn't historically have a very good reputation, in particular for their first and business class products available on their longhaul fleet. Their Airbus A340-600 aircraft, which they fly on 14+ hour flights, are downright nasty compared to what the competition is offering. On the plus side, their A330-200 aircraft are a bit better, as they do feature fully flat seats.

Back in September I wrote about China Eastern's brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which look stunning.

Here's a video of the cabins on the new 777-300ER.

Has Hyatt Discontinued The Diamond Challenge?

There's a bit of panic in our corner of the interwebs this morning, after Kyle at Upgrd reported that the Hyatt Diamond Challenge is "dead."

I've written extensively in the past about the Hyatt Diamond Challenge -- it's hands down the most lucrative hotel status challenge out there. Historically, in order to qualify for a Hyatt Diamond Challenge you just needed to be an elite member with Hilton, IHG Rewards Club, Marriott, or Starwood, and be able to prove that you've made one stay with them. So if you had hotel elite status through a credit card and made one stay, you were eligible.

To complete a Diamond Challenge you had to stay 12 nights within 60 days. But what made this so generous was that:
