Review: Lufthansa Senator Lounge Frankfurt Airport FRA

My Singapore Airlines flight was departing from gate B46, and there's a Senator Lounge located near gate B43, which is less than a minute walk away. That's quite convenient, given that this flight goes between Singapore and New York, so it's only a quick walk for the passengers transiting in Frankfurt.

As I explained in the last post, it is a bit disappointing that Star Alliance first class passengers only get access to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge, which is more or less identical to the Lufthansa Business Lounge. Technically the Senator Lounge is for partner first class passengers and Star Gold members, while the Business Lounge is for Lufthansa and Star Alliance business class passengers. But in practice they're more or less identical, and it's just a way to spread out the crowding a bit.

Anyway, back to the lounge.

There was an agent at the entrance scanning boarding passes.

Delta Releases Partner Airline Mileage Earning Charts for 2015

Delta SkyMiles members are in for quite a few changes as we head into 2015 – that’s in addition to 2014 program changes including the institution of a spending requirement for elite status qualification. Those upcoming changes include increased elite status spending requirements and, more importantly, the switchover to a revenue-based mileage-earning scheme where, instead […]

Alaska Blocking Emirates Award Space?

One of the very best uses of Alaska Mileage Plan miles is for travel on Emirates.

Emirates is one of my favorite airlines in the world, especially after my most recent flight with them. They don't have many partners with good redemption rates and easily accruable points, so Alaska Mileage Plan really is the best option by a long shot (the other program to consider for Emirates redemptions is Japan Airlines Mileage Bank).

Alaska Mileage Plan allows one-way redemptions on Emirates with stopovers at no additional cost, and doesn't impose fuel surcharges. Redemption rates aren't cheap compared to what Alaska charges for some other partners, but at 90,000-100,000 miles one-way in first class, they're still quite a good value.

How to Write a Dozen Novels and Hundreds of Stories

From William Gibson’s about page: “I do have an email address, yes, but, no, I won’t give it to you. I am one and you are many, and even if you are, say, twenty-seven in grand global total, that’s still too many. Because I need to have a life and waste time and write. I…

Who Is Coming To Frequent Traveler University DC?

I’m headed to Frequent Traveler University this weekend, and am really looking forward to hopefully meeting many of you!

I have several sessions across both the "beginner" and "advanced" programs, as do many of the other speakers, so there should be something for everyone. A full schedule is available online, but here’s where you can find me over the weekend.

I certainly want to meet everyone and answer as many questions as possible, so please say hi. If I’m running down the hallway it’s not because I don’t want to talk to you -- I just don’t want to be late!

What US Airways Really Meant When it Tried To Clarify Elite Status Offer

American AAdvantage introduced a status buyback program and – as expected – US Airways Dividend Miles followed with its own a couple of weeks later. Now Dividend Miles has made some edits to their offer page. Now, I’m the last one in a position to criticize typos (!). But this one rather struck me. They […]
