To Mush or Not to Mush: Dogsledding in Québec

Many new to the world of dogsledding opt for a leisurely ride in a sled while a musher leads them across the snowy landscape with some help from a team of tireless canines. However, as I learned on a four-day crash course in Quebec, dogsledding is a much more challenging affair when you're in the musher’s shoes.

Etihad’s First The Residence Passenger

Later this week Etihad Airways will have their inaugural commercial A380 flight from Abu Dhabi to London. This will be one of the most anticipated airline events of the year, as Etihad's A380s look to be truly revolutionary. The most revolutionary product is The Residence, which is a three room suite with private butler.

Fortunately I managed to snag a seat on the inaugural in First Apartment.

I was unsuccessful in my attempt to get a seat in The Residence, though I'm happy that the guy who booked it on the inaugural happens to be awesome. ;)

This is a reader story. (Read others or tell us yours.) I read a long comment by Elena Kim in the 2014 Travel Roundup, and decided it deserves a post of its own. Here’s Elena: – This year I learned I could walk on water. I was in Hong Kong on my first overseas trip…

SPG 2014 Platinum Suite Night Award Expiration Not Being Extended

One of the cool perks of being a 50 night Platinum with Starwood is that you get 10 Suite Night Awards.

Each can be used to confirm a one night upgrade to a suite five days before arrival.

As I wrote about a few days ago, I have several of these left.

Last year Starwood actually extended the expiration of Suite Night Awards through April 30 as a courtesy. Usually they expire on December 31, meaning they have to redeemed for stays prior to then.

IHG’s big promo for the beginning of the year is ‘Set Your Sights’ where lots of different kinds of activity earn big bonus points (though it isn’t as lucrative as the fall’s free nights promotion. I Overslept For My International Flight

It's funny how things work out sometimes. Just a couple of days ago I wrote a post about whether or not you should let people skip you in an airport security line when running late.

In that post I mentioned how in my millions of miles of flying I’ve only ever overslept for a flight once.

Fast forward to today. On Saturday I flew Singapore Airlines Suites Class from New York to Frankfurt, and due to turbulence I didn’t get any sleep on the flight. I connected to Toulouse, where I got roughly four hours of sleep on Sunday night, before the Qatar Airways A350 delivery event on Monday.
