Stuck In Customs in Botswana

Slight Update to the Sony A7r Review I added a few thoughts halfway down about the A7r vs. the A7II over on the Sony A7r Review. In short: This is a tough question! I do have both, and I still use the A7r for most of my landscape shots because of the 36 megapixel to […]

What’s Worse Than Expiring Miles? You’ll Lose All Your Miles When This Frequent Flyer PROGRAM Expires!

LarryInNYC asks about the Alitalia porgram as an option for crediting the dirt cheap Etihad fare. Etihad, after all, took a big stake in the airline .. because it’s apparently more important to funnel traffic through Abu Dhabi than to actually make money. I fly to Italy at least once a year, so Al Italia […]

Gulf Air Business Class London To Bahrain A330

As I mentioned earlier in the week, I just flew Gulf Air business class from London Heathrow to Bahrain. I've always been intrigued by Gulf Air, though due to their financial situation they seem to be on the decline, and are cutting routes rather than adding them.

That being said, they're an American AAdvantage partner airline, so I could fly on them between Europe and the Middle East in business class for just 30,000 American miles one-way.

Gulf Air operates two flights a day between London and Bahrain -- I took the daytime flight (departing at 9:30AM and arriving at 7PM), while they also have a redeye.

I figured I'd share my initial thoughts on the experience.

A-Audio Premium Legacy Headphones Offer 3-Stage Listening

As a minimalist traveler, I’ve long been a fan of earbuds as they’re almost invisible from a packing perspective. But I’ve started to appreciate a few more creature comforts when I hit the road now. Among those: great-sounding audio. I forego the movies on long-haul flights in favor of great music or even a podcast. […]

British Airways Re-committing to First Class, Converting Remaining 747s to New First!

Conventional wisdom is that international first class is a thing of the past. A dinosaur. The better business classes today are better than what first used to be. Here are the world’s best business class products. There’s a very narrow market that will pay for greater privacy and service, that isn’t paying to fly private. […]
