Apparently US Airways Economy Is Now Business Class
Yesterday I flew US Airways from Chicago to Tampa via Charlotte using British Airways Avios. American didn't have award availability on the nonstop and revenue fares were ~$500, so at 9,000 Avios one-way it was the best value.
I'm still trying to learn the whole US Airways system, because it doesn't make much sense to me. For example, after putting my Executive Platinum number on the reservation I was given these seating options at check-in:
So I have to pay $49 to reserve seemingly arbitrary seats, which aren't in exit rows, or extra legroom, or...?
Anyway, I had selected seat 6C, which is an aisle seat in the second row of economy on the Airbus A321.

Boeing Sales to Iran, Life Advice, Jet Lag and Weight Gain, and the TWA Terminal at JFK
News and notes from around the interweb: Someone was foolish enough to ask me for life advice, and just crazy enough to publish it. Hopefully appropriate caveats are offered at the outset of the piece. Photos of the abandoned TWA terminal at JFK (With apologies, I can’t seem to track down which reader was kind […]

Alaska Status Matching To MVP Gold 75K
While I fly dozens of airlines a year, I have two frequent flyer programs I'm most loyal to -- American AAdvantage and Alaska Mileage Plan.
I'm Executive Platinum with American, which is also the airline on which a vast majority of my revenue flying is. The status is invaluable, and I've yet to fly economy on a revenue ticket with American this year (though a fair amount of my flying has been using upgrades confirmed in advance, as well as some "cheap" paid premium cabin tickets).
I'm also MVP Gold 75K with Alaska, which is new loyalty for me as of the past two years, which is when I moved to Seattle. Alaska Airlines is really quirky, and I kind of love them for that. Their planes are pretty homely for the most part, though they have good employees and an excellent frequent flyer program.

Cadillac Test Drive Miles Promotion Pulled Early: What Happened?
At the beginning of the month I spoke with American AAdvantage President Suzanne Rubin and Cadillac’s Chief Marketing Officer Uwe Ellinghaus about the new marketing tie up between the two companies. American launched Cadillac tarmac transfers for their top ‘Concierge Key’ customers making tight connections at certain airports. And they shared that a promotion was […]

Uber Already Shut Down In Las Vegas
Earlier I posted about how Uber (more specifically UberX) finally launched in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas has one of the most corrupt taxi mafias out there. I mean, them blocking Uber aside, look at the complete lack of transportation options between McCarran Airport and The Strip. Even though they're a mile apart, the only real way to get between the two is by taxi. Do you think that's a coincidence, or because the taxi mafia is paying some people off?
Well, just hours after it launched, Uber has already been shut down in Las Vegas, through at least November 7, 2014.

Homophobic Drunk Man Goes Nuts At Airport!
A ridiculous video was uploaded to YouTube yesterday of a fight that broke out at a gate at DFW Airport earlier in the week. And by "fight" I really just mean a single idiotic drunk guy was making an a$$ of himself.
Note that the video contains strong language, so if you're easily offended...
He goes off on a guy who's filming him, who he apparently suspects is gay.
The guy in the cowboy hat asks the drunk idiot what he's upset about, and if I'm understanding him correctly he responds "queers... is what I'm upset about. This faggot right here. Shove it up your ass, man, and see how that feels. You might get tickled. F#cking queer."

Uber Finally In Las Vegas!!!
Wooohoooo!!!
I'd argue Las Vegas is the single most corrupt city in the US when it comes to taxis. That's mainly because everything is in such close proximity, and the taxi drivers will do everything to screw you over and take you the long you. Not only are they charging you more, but they're wasting your time as well.
In September I wrote about the taxi excitement I experienced in Las Vegas, from the driver that took us between two points on the Strip via the interstate, to Jeff, who was... well, you've just gotta read about him.
As I explained in that post, Uber wasn't allowed in the city due to the taxi mafia, which is among the strongest anywhere.
